How Geeps handles your chats and API keys
Understand what stays on your devices, what syncs through iCloud, and what goes to your selected AI provider.
An AI chat app must send your request somewhere to get a response. The important questions are what data the app stores, where it sends your request, and which service controls the data after it leaves your device. Geeps was designed from the beginning with direct API connections without relying on a server in the middle.
Here is how Geeps handles this:
API keys stay in Keychain
Geeps stores your provider API keys in Apple Keychain on your device. The keys do not sync through iCloud allowing you to use different keys on different devices.
Some other settings can sync between your devices. This means you may need to add an API key separately on each device even when the provider settings already appear there.
Chats sync through your private iCloud account
Geeps stores your conversations on your devices and syncs them through your private iCloud. The same applies to additional assets like image attachments or generated images. Geeps does not operate a separate chat-storage service.
You control chat deletion from the app. If you need to remove every chat, setting, and API key, follow the Delete all data guide.
Requests go directly to your selected provider
Geeps connects directly to the provider API. It does not route your chat through a middleware server. One 'downside' of that is the need to keep the app open while your requests are in progress (particularly on iOS).
The selected provider receives the content required to process your request. This can include your message, conversation context, attachments, and enabled tool input. The provider's own API privacy and retention terms apply to that data.
Before you add a provider, review its policy for API customers. Consumer chat-product terms can differ from API terms.

Analytics stay limited
Geeps does not use any third-party analytics tools. If you allow Apple to share analytics with developers, Apple can provide anonymous usage and crash information.
